![]() ![]() ![]() I also have to confess that I am always drawn to YA but end up wanting it to have the complexity of something adult – *cough* Brandon Sanderson *cough* A) it is worth reading, and B) it is the set up to two more excellent books. I confess the story itself fell a little flat for me in the face of all the hype surrounding it BUT. Storm Siren introduces readers to a world that combines elemental fantasy with traces of steampunk and the Hunger Games – a world inhabited by strong, stereotype-breaking characters. Life has hardened Nym, but her strength is her compassion. She quickly discovers that her kingdom is at war with a land of superior industry – and Nym may be the only weapon capable of saving her people. Nym’s life changes in a thunderclap when the head of her kingdom’s military buys her and sets her up with something she never dared dream – training to control her curse. ![]() Females are not meant to be Elemental – yet Nym is an anomaly for more than her long, white hair. All fifteen in her seventeen years of life have quickly learned the power in her blood is a curse. ![]()
